Arch 01 is a temporary installation that was built for a Pop-up Gallery on the beach in IJburg, Amsterdam, for the VrIJland community center. The installation was built with a stockpile of reused wooden blocks that was built as a way to test the effect of open-ended material stockpiles on collective creativity. The blocks fit within wooden boxes and remain at the community center to be used in an open-ended manner for a wide range of activities, including childrens play but also the creation of installations ands sculptures.
The Arch was constructed in 3 hours using the blocks in combination with reversible connectors such as quick-release clamps and load binders.
